The Wits Paediatric Fund is a fundraising arm of the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School, and they seek financial support for essential equipment, supplementary medical and therapeutic staff, professional development training, and materials for the renovation of wards at the three Wits teaching hospitals—Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, and Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital.

The patient load at all three hospitals increases by approximately 10% per annum. There is a pressing need to establish dedicated units for neonatal intensive care, paediatric intensive care, and Kangaroo Mother Care; to upgrade existing equipment and purchase equipment that is currently lacking; and to renovate the existing wards and clinics.
