Relationship – it takes some rules
An interpersonal relationship is a long association between two or more people, and may be based on love, liking, business interaction or some social commitment. There is no such thing as perfect relationships, which can take place in a great variety of contexts such as family, freinds or marriage, acquaintances, clubs, churches and so on.
A relationship is normally viewed as a connection between two individuals, such as a romantic, or a parent-child relationship. People in relationships tend to influence each other, and they share their thoughts and feelings and engage in activities together. A close friendship is important for emotional wellbeing throughout one’s lifespan – it is believed that the relationship that a child has with his parents right from birth has long lasting effects on all future relationships.
What does the Bible offer Christian singles? What spiritual guidance does it provide Christians looking for love and relationships? The Bible is one of the most comprehensive collection of books ever written and addresses everything from romance and sex to famine and war, and from forgiveness to love, as well as addressing the questions and concerns of Christians who are single, committed to a relationship, married or divorced.
The Bible makes it clear that God’s plan for relationships is marriage. (Genesis 2:24) Dating in a casual, sexually free-spirited manner is incompatible with the biblical record.
Churches and youth groups can play a big role in helping young people with developing a strong and Christian relationship, and FamilyLife would love to come alongside youth leaders to provide them with tools to equip youth to enter into deep and meaningful friendships.
