   Most unhappy, I have at present four Ryobi machines, two cordless drills, one which is a hammer drill 18 v, the other a standard 18v cordless, the standard I purchased less than year ago,the drill has already via Mica Richards Bay been sent back battery/charger issues, app. 3 months ago, the charger was replaced , since then the batteries dont last very long, lately not even 20 seconds with load.Ryobi (James) refutes the claim due to batteries not a claimable item and what to charge me R1600 for two new batteries(i paid +- R600 for the complete machine)the batteries did not even last 6 months with very little use. This is not what i expected from Ryobi, i am now sitting with a brand new tool that is useless( i am not prepared to spend twice the value for replacement batteries, i am looking forward to a reply.Regards R Gericke

    I’ve read lots of complaints above about Ryobi tools and service however I must disagree. I own several Ryobi powertools and even have an industrial ryobi printing press. I have over the years been most impressed with Ryobi’s diversity in manufacturing and have had excellent service from their service centre in Springfield Park in Durban (not far from Makro who sell a wide range of their tools). Also, please ensure that you are not using the Ryobi home range of tools to attempt industrial or semi-industrial type applications. Specified loads are important with power tools and one can easily burn out brushes or seize up bearings when overloading. The Ryobi semi-industrial range of tools are quite capable of handling most applications! Thanks Ryobi…….

    As a service company which uses a lot of power tools, we’ve found Ryobi drills and angle grinders to be very reliable. A HID600VR lasted over 3 years, with lots (and I means lots) of use. Annual lubrication is all service it needed. Right now, all it needs is a set of carbon brushes.
    Definately a better product than Skil or Black & Decker, based on hard experience. Even the expensive Bosch Professional 230mm angle grinder has it’s problems.
    Moral of the story: for the price paid, we’ve got exceptional service from Ryobi products.

    I have used your product for a number of years and have never had cause to complain. Due to the price of the products I have had good value for my money until now. I bought a cordless hammer drill ctc-1880k from builders in newton Park and used it to install a table top ( four screws) in my kitchen. I checked the bit to insure that it fitted the screw correctly before securing the top, on the third screw I let the bit slip twice and to my disgust the bit was u/s. I have used other bits in my electric drill to have gained enough knowlage to know that this should not happen. I contacted the supplier who gave me the contact in PE (russel) who promissed me that he would replace the bit SET as it might be a bad batch but after three weeks of constant reminders he sends a SINGLE bit . I am not confident that this bit or any of the others that are in the set will be of the standered that I have come to expect from your products.

    I will rate Ryobi’s customer service among the best of any Power Tool company in South Africa.
    A lot of the complaints above about Ryobi tools and service stem from customer ignorance and/or using the Ryobi home range of tools in industrial or semi-industrial type applications.
    As a hobby woodworker, almost all of my power tools and machines are Ryobi. I have been using Ryobi for about 16 years now and for the price paid, I am more than happy with the quality and reliability.
    Spares are generally always available and I have never had need to complain about service when I have needed it.
    Stevens & Co is the sole distributor of Ryobi in Southern Africa and their Head Office is at 604, 16th Street, Randjespark, Midrand, Gauteng.

    I own a small company called Batteries Galore. One of my customers has brought in a 110 / 18 volt battery charger that he has connected to 220V. It appears that only the MOV and fuse was damaged on the charger. There appears to be allowance for two resistors on the PC Board to drop the voltage and allow the unit to work on 220V. Any chance of me getting a cct diagram to repair the charger. THe charger is a P113, Serial number AX093902498 Thanks. JS

    The plastic cooling, sucking fan on my Ryobi EBS-7076 needs replacement after becoming entangled in a mass of fibres from the belts, that had clogged in the dust extraction pipe, shattering it and stripping it loose from the main rotor thanks to an ignorant employee. It seems I need to replace the entire rotor unit as the plastic fan is fused to the rotor.

    I live in the Cape town area, will a replacement rotor for the EBS-7076 be obtainable?
